Yaasmeen Ruqqyya’s photographic practice centers on the cultural landscapes of community life. Through documentary-style imagery, she records gatherings, celebrations, and artistic spaces where history, identity, and resilience are expressed. Her work frames these moments as living archives—visual testimonies that honor the beauty, continuity, and evolving narratives of the Black diaspora.

After extensive global travels, during which she documented various landscapes through photography, she discovered a profound appreciation for the vibrant essence of Miami.

Yasmeen has had the honor to co-curate the "Reflecting Black" art exhibit, presented by FIU Miami Beach Urban Studios in 2023, and my photographic works have been featured in esteemed institutions such as the Library of Congress, the Coral Gables Sanctuary of the Arts, and Vizcaya Museum and Gardens.
